API Access Types

APIs are grouped by use case - please see a brief description of each below:

A) Client APIs (EU/GB/US)

Used for building consumer mobile/web apps on Orenda. Production credentials will be made available as part of the onboarding flow, and your infrastructure is set up for deployment.

Authentication:

These APIs use AWS Cognito for secure authentication. When an end user accesses the APIs, a session will be created that requires two-factor authentication (2FA). This ensures that only the authenticated end user can access the resources, providing an extra layer of security.

Session Usage:

The authenticated session is strictly for end-user access and cannot be used for server-to-server calls. Server-side integrations use different access methods, as detailed below and in the API documentation.

For Developer Access:

Sign Up Using Orenda Sandbox. The sandbox environment is fully featured and supports self-service sign-up, just like your final app will. It's an excellent way to explore and experience Orenda's APIs in action, covering all the concepts discussed in the API documentation.

B) Management APIs (System-to-System Access)

Used for building systems to interact with your programme's management information. This access level is designed for system-to-system operations.

Access Requirements:

  • Credentials from Orenda: Access credentials will be provided as per API documentation.
  • Static IP Address: A static IP address is required. Without a whitelisted static IP, these APIs will not function.
  • PCI DSS Certification: Some endpoints may require PCI DSS certification, as indicated in the API documentation.
