A cardholder is a person who can hold and use a card on an account without being the account owner — an employee with a company card, or a family member with a supplementary card.
Cardholders are available on programs whose card provider supports them. If yours doesn’t, these endpoints return an unsupported-provider error. See Program capabilities.

The flow

1

Create the cardholder

Create a cardholder on the account. For business programs, the holder’s name, email, and address are required.
2

Invite them to a card

Invite the cardholder to a specific card. They receive an invite email and sign in to accept.
3

Track and manage invites

List your invites to see each one’s status — INVITED, ACTIVE, ACCEPTED, or REVOKED — and revoke any that shouldn’t stand.
When a cardholder action needs the holder’s approval (3DS-related step-ups), the holder answers it with Confirm a holder authentication.
